Like the others said, your engine block is probably full of crud. Take the radiator off. Take the radiator connection top and bottom pieces off. This is what the hoses attach to. One is bolted to the bottom of the engine block, the other to the head. You'll have to take the fan off too. Then rig you a piece of tubing 2 or 3 ft long on the end of a garden hose or you can use a pressure washer. Reach back in the passages of the block with the tubing and flush it out. Likely you'll get all kinds of crud. If the block and radiator are clean, the thermosyphon cooling is plenty adequate.
