The gen is good, she's kicking out 11.x volts...the starter is in perfect condition too, but every new battery (6 and 8v) only holds it charge a short time, and no longer will spin the motor after a few times. gotta open up the regulator to get the ammeter to show charge, and running the lights immediately causes a discharge. there's no shorts anywhere, all connections are tight. the regulator is fairly new, and it's behaved this way since it came back from the dealer a few years ago. charging the batteries is in vain, they never seem to regain the oomph they had when new. jumping the tractor w/ 12v always works. My H always spins nice on 6v, except we use it little and the batteries goto pot. is it possible 6v batteries today are made crappy? i can't wait to get out of college so i have time to do the things that really matter....now if pay for farmers would go up before i graduate, i'd be very happy.
