We had a heck of a run today. We had to assist the city Fire Department in extricating a gentleman from a storm sewer. He was cleaning leaves out and fell in head first. At first, his feet were sticking out. They tried to pull him out. Before they could tie him off, he started squirming around, which resulted in him going farther down the pipe, 10 to 15 feet farther. This pipe ran down the side of a building and underneath it. It was an 18" plastic pipe. To make a long story short, we ended up locating where the pipe ran under the building and jackhammering the floor. Once the pipe was located we dug out around it until about 4 feet was exposed. Then we took a Sawzall and cut the pipe, threw him a rope, and pulled him out. He was in there around three hours. It was a pretty complex operation, like I've never seen before! To make it on topic - They hauled him to the hospital in an IH ambulance. BTW - he was ok, just a little cold. Take care and watch those drain pipes...Fireman
