This is what the gear does. It drives a chain that goes to the fertilizer box on cultivators, meters amount of fertilizer that goes to plants. I guess it could run other implements too, like planters maybe? This one is on my H, and I borrowed the picture from www.farmall-h.com Good luck, sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Fireman
