in the late 50's the 630/730 where ih's equivalent to the 560. in Red-Power a year or 2 ago they had a deal where a person named Ruff wrote a deal about ih's equivalent. he got a bad rap over that and sayine most of the new magnums where case design..but the deere 730 had around 58 or 59 hp the 560 had around 59 or 60 hp. i belive in Ruffs article it was just about 1.87hp diff. between the 2 not sure though. the 460 had somewhere around 48-50 hp the 630 had around 45-48hp so....when grwoing up we had a 460 row crop widefront we bought off the Frisco train yard here in springfield it had a 10' belly mower and those airplane tires. we would go through thorns with no problem and had teh worlds largest lawn mower too..but we had that tractor prolly 5 years tehn traded it when dad bought a deere 3020 diesel.the only reason we went with deere was because we needed the 3pt at that time. and also we had wore that poor 460 out! i have no problem with IH tractors nor do i have a problem with any other tractor, but if i had to choose i would have to go with the Deere 630/730 tractors just for the fact that they didnt have the rearend and diffreintial prob. the 460/560 tractors had. i will admit both tractors had there faults: Deere the 24 volt system LOVED to eat batteries. the IH had problems with there final drives and rearend.we still use a mix of equipment on our farm today(allis john deere ih) but like i said every tractor has its faults. i think i have said enough. john

My Papaw had a 1954 IH Super A that he bought to replace a Cub. My Papaw raised "baccer" (tobacco) and corn with the Super A, but the fondest memory was of the sawmill. He owned a small sawmill for sawing "baccer" sticks. The Super A was the powerplant. When I was old enough (7 or 8), I would get up early and be dressed to
