I agree with the below comments. I always adjust the clutch pedals on H's and M's so that I can stick my thumb between plateform and pedal arm when meassuring free play. That's roughly between 3/4 of an inch and an inch. You lengthen the rod to decrease the play and shorten it to increase the play. As your clutch wears you adjust the rod accordingly. As you step in on your clutch with your foot there should be a little free play before the clutch starts to disengage. It should be totally disengaged say 1/2 or 3/4's of the way in.
