I have been down a similar path as the one you are on now with my BN. I was sure it was my carburator bugging up, but after about the third time I overhauled it, I discovered a hairline crack in the intake manifold. I replaced the manifold, and things smoothed out nicely. Now after a few hours of operation it will foul the number one spark plug. Change the plug-smooth again. The removed plug doesn't show any real signs of why it failed (ie. water, rich, lean). I noticed a faint trace of antifreeze in the motor oil at the last change. I'm wondering now, after reading these previous posts, if I should over tourque my head to see if it would cure this. Anybody have any ideas on this ? Thanks, and good luck.
