Frosty the Carb

I have a M that gets used year round. When the weather gets cold the carb becomes iced over. Is this normal? I did replace the thermostat. The engine runs between 160 to 180 degrees. It has not seemed to affect the operation of the engine, but could it? Also, does the carb need to be readjusted during cold weather? It idles fine in warm weather but when it gets colder it tends to sputter and load up at idle in cold weather. Thanks for any info!
