Dave the 10 gauge goes from the bat terminal to the negative side of the ampmeter gauge. The 12 gauge wire goes from the field post on the generator to the lower post on the light switch next to that flat resistor. If you don't have the 4 position light switch, don't hook up the 12 gauge wire. As you mentioned, 14 gauge from the coil switch to the coil.
