What happened here?

My grandfather was telling me about how some people down at the farm were digging out a pond with a bulldozer and got it stuck. They went to pull it out with a 1466 that had a big 3 point mounted sludge applicator on the back. They couldn't get it to pull the dozer and while they were thinking about what to do next, somehow the parking brake was not set all the way or failed and it rolled backwards (it was clicking as it rolled). it hit the dozer and somehow forced the sludge spreader up or something and they tell me that it messed up the whole insides of the rear end. SO...can someone explain to me what happened? the tractor looks fine from the outside except for some stuff broken on the hitch and the back window broken but they say it will be easier to get a new one rather than to fix this one. thanks.
