You know Ralph I'am inclined to agree with you on that. As to what end they do that I don't know, but having worked on Farmalls for many years I can attest to that fact. Plus on the H and M heads years ago, at least the new ones, they also seemed to have a coating similar to a heavy primer applied to the water passages inside the head. The transmissions and differentaial housings were all definitely coated with a heavy rose colored primer or sealer of some sort. Very good observation.
