Jimbo may be right. You might have to replace the gears all together. I just replaced all of the gears on my H. It took time and it was not easy, but I was successful and it did turn out great. Take the advice of the earlier post before you begin tearing off the transmission cover. Look through the hole where the pulley gears mount and look over your 4th and 5th gears which will be located nearest the front. If the teeth are badly warn on either of these, you will have to remove the transmission cover (I call it the deck) and replace the gears. The other problem the earlier gent mentioned would be to find out whether the shifter mechanism is badly warn. The little balls that hold the shifter in place get warn. A friend of mine replaced the hole deck with the shifter in place rather than to just replace the shifter. If I had to do the whole thing over again, with experience, I think I could swap everything in a couple days. Incidentally, the gears I used to replace the old gave me a higher 7 mph 4th speed.
