John- Suggest you put your efforts and resources to getting the ignition system and carburetor system in top notch shape. Break loose with a few bucks and get that magneto overhauled by a shop with a widely known good reputation. Same for the carburetor. Try one heat range hotter with a pair of new spark plugs. Also, if the thing sits around not running quite a bit, I suggest you drain the fuel tank each month or two, pour that gas into the pickup, and put back fresh gas into the tractor tank. If you can, get an old timer to show you all the subtle stuff involved in hand starting that old Johnny Dear. Some of it's what my mother used to call "holding your mouth right" (having the right swear word on your lips and ready to use). Beyond that it becomes learning to speak to it using words it understands. Grins, IHank
