The manual for the remote control hydraulics for an M says to close the vent on the breather when using remote control hydraulics, does not say why, but I guess we now know why. This is for the factory remote control valve that is attached to the breather/fill pipe with a tee, sounds like same as you have. Try it. I don't have a dipstick on my M. I changed the oil, and measured from the top of the tee, and have 12.5 inches to the top of the oil. your measurement may be different. If nothing else, dump the oil, fill with fresh, and measure. I think I have seen the measurement here on the forum, maybe do a search, or someone will know it. Doc.
