Duey- I never heard of the gadget you describe. But, there used to be all kinds of widgets and gadgets sold at the fairs. The good ones didn't mess up proper operation! Pitting of the contact points is addressed as a common tune up service checklist item. The problem in the reference books is said to be caused by improper capacity in the ignition system condenser. In other words, the condenser is not properly matched to the coil primary circuit. The old repair manuals tell to use a condenser with either greater or less capacity, depending on which way the metal is being moved across the points. The odds of success at manipulating condenser values by a back yard mechanic are about the same as rubbing goat blood on your chest and saying a magic chant to prevent injury by small arms fire. Grins, IHank
