Basically the same tractor, but with lots of minor changes. As mentioned in another post, the pto design was different in the first few years. During WWII production, rubber was in very short supply, so a lot of those tractors were on steel. Some other changes were caused by this also. I have a '43 H with a cast iron gear shift knob instead of a rubber one. Many of the early ones had no electrical system aside from the magneto ignition. Seat designs varied some also. The front wheels are different on many of them. The early ones did not have the "ring" hub that's on the mid-40's and later. Many of the earlier ones were set up to run on "distillate" or what would be comparable to today's kerosene. These tractors have a small fuel tank for gasoline mounted in front of the main tank. Manifolds, heads, and perhaps pistons were different on these tractors. Radiator shutters were on the early ones, I'm not sure about the later models, but I don't think so. If all this isn't confusing enough, lots of farmers added and subtracted parts with great frequency. Several companies made lots of $$ selling aftermarket parts for everything from engine components, to hydraulic systems, to disk brakes, and even 9-speed transmissions.
