I have an ariticle about such a device, it was a production item on if I remember right "Cheverolet" in the 40's I could try to find it if it is important to you. It was the thinking back then, that switching the "polarity" of the points every time you turned the ignition sw. on, would prolong the life of them. You have to remember, money was very tight back in the ol' days and to have the vehicle "tuned up" was an expense. Later' Geo
