Wes - Unless the input/countershaft gear set are worn out and can be replaced, the only other possibility is to move the counter shaft closer to or farther away from the mainshaft to properly set the gear backlash. I presume that's accomplished by shimming the countershaft bearing(s) to set the gear mesh. But I'm no tranny expert! Perhaps there's someone else here on the board who's had this experience and can share their knowledge.
