I don't have an H, but an A, either way though, the starter should really crank over quite fast. Are you running 6v or 12 v conversion? If you are converted to 12v, the 6v starter should really go. Once you get the carb up, and a good crank on the starter, if your timing is good you should start almost immediatly with or without a bit of choke. Don't give in to the temptation of laying on the starter for more than 10 or 15 seconds or you will burn it out. Mine had that problem as well. Before I got it the guys at the garage were attempting to start it many times and burnt out the starter. I sent it out and had it rebuilt for $99.00 Cdn, including a new switch.
