Its just that the job we when thru on the 756 gas to diesel was o.k. But some day these good used diesels will be hard to come by. I have been told by different people in the salvage buisness that the German D310 or D358 are getting hard to come by.I was warned don't crack a block or head, or tear up a crank. There's not much in lose part available for the German Diesel Engines. Also on many used diesels that have most likely already had one maybe two rebuilds.Theres the chance of having a loose sleeves or nothing left to grind on the crank unless you special order oversize bearings. Now if your the one doing the third or forth rebuild. It may take some expencive service parts or machine shop work to get the rebuild done. One note when we did our conversion. The back motor mounting plate and front engine mounts looked like they had some fire damage, the flywheel we could not tell(looked ok and there was no crackes in any of this stuff. The only way they found them for us was from a burned tractor (Wear the engine was "Ruined".)As for the Aluminum oil pan. It was most likely melted in the fire. Any good German or American diesel engines are still in a tractor some were running. And the only ones that come up for sale are from used combines. Some day use diesel's from combine's will also be scarce as Hens Teeth. As for the bigger 414 to 466's, Truck engines could be used. But again this will not be forever. I know of one 966 near home that has a DT466-235HP in it from a truck wrecking yard. They had blown the motor and this was the cheepest replacement. As for using a new Cummins. At least there should be service parts 20 years from now. Good luck and happy holidays everbody

When Push Comes to Shove - by Dave Patterson. When I was a “kid” (still am to a deree) about two I guess, my parents couldn’t find me one day. They were horrified (we lived by the railroad), my mother thought the worst: "He’s been run over by a train, he’s gone forever!" Where did they find me? Perched up on the seat of the tractor. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
