Brad-I have a 44H & grew up operating it & 3 other H's (another 44, a 41 & 42). We farmed 880 A of row crop & small grain with 'em in the '50's & '60's, so used them all a lot. If fowling plugs are oily, usually means rings or valve guides are shot. If just hard carbon, check timing, carb adjustment, or perhaps you need a hotter plug. Generally though, when plugs fowl, its an indication of a more serious problem. This is just my $0.02 worth & its probably not what you wanted to hear.
