My experience with sandblasting, is that it gets EVERYWHERE. Into bearings, gaskets, seals, even bolts and pins. My best advise, which I always do, is to only sandblast parts without any bearings or seals or anything that moves. I usually just blast the sheet metal (at a lower pressure and with the gun held way back to prevent warping), fenders and any parts that I COMPLETELY disassemble, such as covers, castings, axles, hubs, etc. For the rest I just use a wire brush wheel on a grinder. It's hard work, but it sure beats finding a bearing full of sand, or a leaky gasket or seal once it's done. Some people just go ahead and blast everything, but I don't. By the way, sand will get in places you never dreamed possible without pointing the gun directly at it! (especially your ears)
