If the starter is locking up, see above posting. if it is not, check brushes for tension or being worn out. if it has a strap that you can take off you will be able to tell if it is locking up by trying to turn the armature CAREFULLY with a small screwdriver there could be a bad spot in the armature also. let us know what you find Geo.
