Has anyone ever heard of or experienced an 86 series getting stuck in high range but range lever being in park? This past spring I was working with our 1486 and stopped quickly to move an object out of the way. I guess I didnot pull up completely out of high range before going to park. As I let out on the clutch the tractor tried to move forward but was being loaded because I believe the park mechanism was engaged. We worked with the range shifter for about 30 minutes and finally got it out of park and high range. Pulled the seat and cover plate out today and can't find anything obvious. The ball linkages are a little wore but not anything out of the ordinary for 4400 hrs. Any comments? I did notice that the bolt that holds the arm going into the tranny on the range shifter does rotate when you move the range lever back and forth. Is this common?

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
