Scotty - Short runs in cold weather will result in rapid accumulation of condensation in the oil - that's probably what you are seeing. Solutions are to occasionally run the engine under load long enough (30+ minutes) to get the oil good and hot, or else change the oil more frequently. Incidentally I highly recommend a winter front to cover the radiator in cold weather to help hasten engine warmup.
