the magnet will not be as strong as you think it should be. if you take it off, put a keeper bar(soft steel) across the poles.find a vertical steel plate like the inside of the bull gear housings (drop axel) remove the keeper bar and stick the magnet to it. it should stay by itself. if not then you might find someone with a magnitiser to put some life back in it. weak spark? i'd check for the same things that you check for in a battery ignition... poor contacts, corroded or dirty connections, follow the path that the spark travels in the distributor. every connection should be clean and brite. the magnet should go back on with the i.h.c. symbol on the outside of the magneto, not facing the tractor.
