Hey Zonie - Don't know what the original M&W friction disc was made of. But when the M&W handle wouldn't hold anymore on my Super M, I made my own replacement disc. I purchased a 12" square piece of 1/8" thick semi-rigid gasket material for $1 from a vendor at an antique tractor show. Used tin snips to cut out a new disc, then a spade bit to bore the hole in the middle. It's been working great for 3+ years. In fact it works so good I used the rest of the sheet up making new discs for the M&W's my other tractor, and for two of my father in law's. Not sure what the gasket material is, but it looks/feels like brake/clutch lining material only it is slightly flexible. You might try at shop that relines truck brakes and clutches, or at an industrial power transmission supplier.
