Dad made a splitting stand for His M 30+ yrs ago very similar to the one Cliff N. has. He put large steel-wheeled casters on them so You can roll the front half of the tractor forward. Used 1" dia. threaded rod so He could adj. the height and angle of the tractor when putting it back together. Stands were welded together from 4 or 5" channel iron bolted to the clutch housing with angle iron running up to the siderail of the frame. The stand wasn't very wide and the only change Dad & I would have made to it was to widen the whole stand out or put outiggers on it so We had more things to trip over walking around the shop! Seriously, the last thing You want is the front half falling over on it's side! The '51 M We used it on was a narrow front end. We just blocked the front of the rear section up with wooden blocks.
