The first thing I thought of was the position of the single or double action selector. I tried both positions but the result was the same. The valve worked in both directions before I took it apart. The only reason that I pulled it apart was the handle and shaft were worn out. I did not change the position of the hoses on the check valve assembly.
The only thing I could think of was that the valve is upside down in the body or that the new handle was jamming against the body.
