What Red said... If the stock carburetor is in good shape and properly adjusted, rebuilding the carb provides no increase in HP. Similarly if the stock 6 volt ignition maintained to specification, converting to 12 volts does nothing to increase power. Ad's proclaiming HP increases to the contrary assume (but don't mention!) that the carburetor is way outta whack, or that the ignition is marginal. One exception: A 12 volt alternator is VERY SLIGHTLY more electrically efficient than a 6 or 12 volt generator. So a 12 volt alternator could provide a miniscule increase in HP. But this difference is so small (less than 0.1 HP) it probably cannot be measured at the drawbar or PTO. And it certainly would not be noticed by an operator when doing real tractor work.
