Hate to make everyone jealous, but about 7 years ago we bought our A with a fresh engine and good paint, good tires too for... $600! I know we stole it, but a friend wanted it passed on to someone who would take care of it.

PS Around here I've seen them go at auction in the condition you describe from $1200 to $1800, but not running very good.
