The PTO on my SMTA quit suddenly last year while I was baling hay. Finally had time to look into it and at the suggestion of the forum pulled the t shaped cover that has the seasonal disconnect lever on it. Sure enough, the moving coupler was in 3 pieces. I have a reprint of a parts manual for this tractor and someone has written in a part number for a solid coupler. Has anyone had any experience with that? I can't imagine why I would want to disconnect the pto there anyway. Other question is how do I get the new coupler in. Can I do a partial split, wide enough to get the coupler in only? Is this a common problem with these tractors? They guy who had it before me said he thought he changed this coupler once also. Any help would be appreciated. Also at this point am looking for a coupler. other half seems to be fine.
