Heisler road gear for F-12 question

I finally found a road gear for my F-12. the output shaft where it hooks up to the "U" joint is a bit wobbly. Is that normal, or will it need bearings. It turns nice by hand. It shows very little wear in the input gears, but I know that doesn't sometimes mean much as far as hours of use, and the output shaft turns much more than the input so the output will wear more. I guess what I need to know is were they a bit loose in the output since most of the "U" joint has to be removed to install it?
