I have had two 300U's, both are nice tractors. I have had one with a loader and a backhoe and the one I own now has only a loader. I believe Farmhand still makes a bolt-on loader, go to http://www.agcocorp.com/Home.asp?BrandName=Farmhand. The many posts I have seen on this forum give the following good advice: make sure the loader had (or will have) several mounting points, be especially wary of mounts only to the front end or middle (transmission) of the tractor. That seems to be rough on the tractor. Also, ditto on going for the rare power steering if you can get it. Many parts are still avialable from the Case-IH dealer and a substantial number of after market suppliers (even NAPA). A rebuilt TA is available for about $400 exchange but I just did one and it was a pain in rear work wise and the wallet portion of the hind quarters! Many people will argue that you should just run without it, the tractor will function fine with only 5 of the 10 available speeds. There are also a number of 3 point hitch conversions available and it isn't that hard of a "do-it-yourselfer" All-in-all it is probably a better tractor than similar sized tractors like the Ford N's and much less expensive. Good luck!
