I see that you posted a response to Guy Fay's "Painting IH Implements" comment and have been looking at the paint decisions. I try to go through all the relevant paint decisions before I start to paint an implement. I also try to carefully look the imlpement over for any remaining signs of the original paint. Unfortunately, sometimes it gets hard to tell the original from the repaints. One other thing I try to keep in mind is that evidently the factory would bundle a bunch of parts together and paint the whole bunch at once. Also the painting was done after subassemblies were completed. This was evident when they were new as the tie wires that held bundles together were usually painted the same is whatever they were holding. Since masking didn't happen, everything in a bundle or subassembly was the same color. Sometimes, a look at the set-up instructions that came with each implement give you a good idea what parts were painted together.
