...real common in SD east of Missouri River, as this too is row crop country. You see a quite a few of them west of the river & in other states of the central plains where row crops were not common in the 50's & 60's. We don't see many high-crops & I don't think there was an orchard even sold in SD during that time. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
