When I was growing up in western NY, the grapes were picked by hand. The tall pickers came along after I was mostly off the farm, only worked around those things one season. Even though they didn't need the extra weight, many of them got the tires loaded just to lower the center of gravity. They were nerve wracking on a side hill.
