I have wondered the same thing. I can remember back when the Super M came out and thought that It really had a lot of power over the M when It came to plowing. In our part of the country (Central Washington) pulling a two 16 bottom tumble bug 10 inches deep was a good load for a Super M in 3rd gear. On a 3 yard scraper/carryall you were in 1st. You didn't even see any W tractors in our area. I have a 400D and a 600D now and there is a world of difference between the two. I still have that 3 yard scraper and that 600 will load it in 3rd where as my 400 will load it 75% in 1st direct before I have to pull the TA back. When the governer opens up they sure sound good under a load.
