I have a war years ad from IH that says "plow shares ARE swords!" Because the need for food to feed the troops was a major concern, IH was able to keep making plenty of tractors during the war. However they did not make as many as non war years. Some people think these are more collectible while others don't seem to care. I guess owning a war year tractor would be somewhat patriotic, but there were no differences other than the paint being cut with yellow pigment to extend the supply.

It's more of a personal choice yet I think. Maybe in the future the lower production of war years will drive the value up.
