I have my grandpa's '44 H that he bought new in 1945. The story goes that some sort of board decided who got tractors in the area as they became available from the factory, and another farmer was higher on the list than my grandpa. The other guy already had a tractor (an F20, I think) and had made a deal to sell it for more money than the H was going to cost him. The board then made the decision that since grandpa didn't have a tractor and the other guy did, grandpa got his place in line. I understand the other guy was pretty mad. Sounds like they were hard to come by, but available. Dad, if you're reading this, fill in the blanks.
