Production continued, but as mentioned in previous posts, the tractors were hard to get and farmers had to prove to the local boards that they had enough need to qualify. Dad got a new '43 Farmall H and felt lucky to get it. He was farming 120 acres with a team of horses and an F12 before that. The H (which I still have) came on steel, was an "all-fuel" or distillate burner, had no battery, lights, or starter, and has a cast iron knob on the shift lever. Lots of the war-years tractors have been extensively upgraded or modified since they were built. Almost all the ones that came on steel were converted to rubber tires, and many received battery ignition along with starters and lights.
