Gary, is the crack in the same exact area it was on the sleeve, same length, same exact pattern? If so clean that area in the block very clean and see if it cleans up. If it wasn't leaking or isn't leaking, it is possible that the sleeve may have been cracked for some time. With the terrific pressure developed in a diesel, it causes that cracked piece to really hammer the metal in the block making it look like a crack when it really isn't. I have seen it many times on the 282's. Good luck.
