I believe that stock pulling is OK - I've won most of my pulls with setup & driver skill, not sheer power. However, many people who are pulling 'enhanced stockers', such as NATPA C + D, are folks who enjoy pulling, but also enjoy getting the most power out of a motor as possible, within certain constraints. I probably fit into that category, as I almost enjoy putting the tractor together to run as much as the pull itself. I believe that Class "A" would allow you to feel truly comfortable with a stocker, but I've seen several give the tweeked rides something to chew on over a week to week period as well. The key is to pick the right tractor - a '44 JD "A" isn't going to play well with Farmall "M", Oliver "88" and Moline "U". However, a good Deere "60" has enough power and transmission to make it interesting. It's finding the right combo & a ride that ultimately suits you. Good Luck
