Around where I grew up (North Western IL) We always disced corn ground for seeding into oats with the grass or hay seed sowed at the same time as the oats usually in real late March or early April. Oats came up in a couple days... Hay in a couple weeks. Oats got ripe and combined in July, baled the straw and the hay continued to grow. First cutting of hay wasn't until about late JUNE of the NEXT year... and only the 2nd & 3rd cuttings were "Good". My advice, I hope You have a multi-year lease or rental agreement. I used to disc 40 acres of stalk ground with a Super M-TA & 12 ft. disc in a normal day, You have enough tractor. As HAAS said, See Your County Extension Agent about what to plant, how to plant it, and any special care that crop needs.
