Final Drive - Regular

Is the final drive on a '29 Farmall Regular chain drive or gear drive? The short drive shaft between the clutch and transmission (input shaft to transmission) has to make about 3 1/2 revolutions before the rear wheels start moving. The tranny seems ok and the slack is not reflected in the belt pulley as it starts turning as soon as the input shaft starts rotating. Any good ideas where this slack may be before I start taking it down? I think it is the final drives somewhere. Thanks in advance.
