Randy, If you cranked the engine over with out the rotor in place you may not be on actual #1 possition. This is if you have a magnito, you may think you're at TDC but if the #1 valves aren't closed it won't fire. Crank engine to what you think is TDC and where the rotor is in #1 possition, Then take off rotor and put in oposite direction. At this possition the rotor is technically in # 1 possition which means that when the engine is at TDC both valves will be closed and every thing else should be in sinc.
