I was lucky. Found one in great shape for $800. Tires about 70% and look good cleaned and darkened. New starter drive, carb kit, points, plugs, condenser, rebuild plug and coil wire harness all about $150. Knocked out the dings in the hood and bonnet and the old tractor looks brand new from 25 yards away. The closer you get, the less professional I look, but it was not necessary to tear it down for a professional restoration. That may be several years down the road for a son-in-law or grandson, after I've assumed room temperature. The seat on it was from a super C, and a used seat was $75 while using the pan from the super C seat. Primer and paint about $75 (sunrise red, Rustoleum). I tuned it to factory specs (I mean *dead* on) and the engine runs like a dream, road gear pulls good and uphill at 1/3 throttle. God I love that sweet mellow tone. This takes me back to childhood, even though one of these magnificent machines killed our good family friend. I've ordered a seat swivel bushing and shock absorber, about $80 more, and now all I need is the wood track belt pulley.
