Sorry John - your system won't charge the 12 v battery! The cutout essentially looks at generator voltage and connects the generator to the battery whenever the generator is throwing more than about 7 volts. The old generator at max RPM will only produce about 8 volts. Thus when the cutout closes with a 12 volt battery installed, energy will flow from the battery to the generator disharging the battery, and perhaps burning the generator armature out as well. Suggest instead doing either of the following: 1 - Replace the 6 volt generator with a 12 volt Delco generator & regulator from a later model tractor. It will be a bolt-in replacement. Or... 2 - Install a 12 volt alternator and do away with generator/regulator problems. Since the alternator can be hidden up under the hood, only a purist will know what you have done. I'll send you a wiring diagram for how I installed an alternator on my M. Bob
