Farmall H - Gas/Distillate Fuel.....how do you know?

I recently purchased a Farmall H with the auxillary "Gas" tank for just starting the engine then switching over to "Distillate". I borrowed a manual and looked up the different fuels. How do I know which one of the two axuillary fuels in the manual can I use...are they still in production? Is it safe for the engine? Any info appreciated. Thanks!!
