my friend, the tires alone are worth $300-400,and new tires would be at least $500. If someone gave you a tractor you had to rebuild, you'd put more in it than that just to rebuild it. The mower is a "gift." Sounds like a prize. Do yourself a favor and pull the starter, and take a look at the starter drive gears. You'd hate to have to tear down that beauty just for ring gear in a few months. Particularly if it has been converted to 12V which really zings the old 6V starter. If your starter drive is bad (really cut-up gear teeth), new replacement would be about $50. Lucky man. Good luck.
